Concha de tu madre

Utilizo
emulsiones artesanales para imprimir estas imágenes en cianotipia sobre conchas
de mar, las cuales hacen referencia peyorativa a la vulva femenina, con frases
como “ándate a la concha de tu madre”, o “eres un conchesumadre” se invita al
interlocutor a devolverse desde donde salió como si haber salido de la vulva
fuese algo aberrante e indigno.
Las imágenes son una selección de fotografías
de archivo recuperadas del libro: Retratos de mujer 1880-1920, Chile, MHN. En
la actualidad me encuentro trabajando con imágenes de mi archivo familiar como
continuación del proyecto.

I use handmade emulsions to print these images in
cyanotype on sea shells, which refer pejoratively to the female vulva, with
phrases like "go to the shell of your mother", or "you are a
conchesumadre" is invited to interlocutor to return from where it came out
as if leaving the vulva was something aberrant and unworthy.
The images are a selection of archive photographs recovered from the book:
Portraits of women 1880-1920, Chile, MHN. It shows the first photographs where
women appear in the history of the country, mostly well-to-do women with
renowned names who take on a new meaning with this project. I am currently
working with images from my family archive as a continuation of the project.
